How to read these tables

All laboratory values from the records are collected in tables by date: dates run across the columns from left to right, parameters down the rows. Values outside the reference range of the laboratory that ran the test are shown in red; the arrow shows the direction: ↑ — above normal, ↓ — below. A dash means the parameter was not measured that day or is not in the records.

⚠️ Different laboratories use different analysers and different reference ranges. The tables are therefore split by laboratory: the LoVet in-house lab, IDEXX, and the 24-hour clinic TENVET. Numbers can only be compared directly within one table. The summary table in section 1 is for an overview, not for exact comparison.

Details of each test are in the entry for that date in the full chronology.

Weight, kg 4.78 — 4.19 (05.10) — 3.90 (12.10)

What this shows: creatinine rose sharply by 07.10 and was back to normal (156) by 16.10, but urea kept rising — 23.7 mmol/l, the highest on record (⚠️ 10.10 — different analyser). The neutrophilia of 28.09–07.10 has decreased; there is no neutropenia on Palladia. Haemoglobin on 16.10 is 98 g/l, at the lower limit (07.10 — 121), platelets 840 — the highest on record. Weight — 3.90 kg. Glucose is persistently raised, but fructosamine on 14.09 was normal (277 µmol/l) — the rises are stress-related. On 10.10 the red-cell values were above normal — according to the vet, due to dehydration.

2Weight

Weights from the examination notes. Values from the “Waga” field on LoVet forms, which was not updated from 14.09 to 28.09 (4.87 kg), are not included. There is no target weight for this particular cat, so loss of more than 10% from the July weight of 5.2 kg is shown in red. The scales differ between clinics.

Until mid-September the weight stayed within 4.8–5.3 kg. From 14.09 to 05.10 — from 4.78 to 4.19 kg, i.e. −0.6 kg (−12%) in three weeks; by 12.10 — 3.90 kg, another −0.3 kg in a week. From the July weight — −25%. On 10.10 at TENVET the cat was not weighed (BCS 4/9); on 16.10 the LoVet field shows the same 3.90 kg, and it is unclear whether she was reweighed.

3Respiratory rate and thoracocentesis

Respiratory rate (RR) from clinic records and from the owners. For a cat at rest and asleep, under 30 breaths per minute is considered normal; the threshold for an urgent visit recommended on 26.09 is 40 or more. Values of 40 and above are shown in red. The last column lists chest taps and how much fluid was removed.

17.10.2026 26 and 28 awake, after furosemide and Palladia owner —

No taps were needed from July to September. From 26.09 to 16.10 — five taps in three weeks (26.09, 28.09, 07.10, 10.10, 16.10; possibly also 24.09), volumes 50–140 ml, 2–9 days apart. Breathing worsened before each one. 16.10 was the largest volume, six days after the previous tap. Right after it — 34 breaths, and the next day (17.10), after furosemide and Palladia, — 26–28 even while awake. Values under anaesthesia (25.09) are not comparable with the rest.

4Temperature

Rectal temperature from the examination notes. For a cat, 38.0–39.2 °C is usually considered normal; the clinic forms give no reference range. Values above 39.2 °C are shown in red.

Date Temperature, °C Where measured Note

Temperature was above normal only once — on 10.07.2026, with severe constipation. On 05.10 — 39.0, at the upper limit. Temperature usually falls under anaesthesia, so the 25.09 values are not comparable with the rest. At visits not listed in the table, temperature is not recorded in the documents.

Creatinine of 250 µmol/l on 07.10.2026 is the highest on record; by 16.10 — 156, within range. Urea of 23.7 mmol/l on 16.10.2026 is the highest on record: it is rising even though creatinine has fallen (BUN/CRE ratio 16 → 38). TENVET values are converted from mg/dl and given for orientation.

Glucose is above normal in every measurement, but fructosamine on 14.09.2026 was 277 µmol/l (normal 160–335): no diabetes, the rises are stress-related. Potassium was raised from April to September and normalised by 28.09. Amylase has been above normal since 07.10; cholesterol on 16.10 is slightly above normal for the first time.

Values marked “~” are hard to read on the thermal printout.

8Blood — IDEXX

Reference ranges are from the 2026 forms; in 2025 IDEXX used a different MCV reference range (39–56 fl).

Since August 2025 — small red cells (microcytosis) and low MCH, even before the first surgery. On 07.10 and 16.10.2026 IDEXX flagged a raised RDW (red cells of varying size) and recommended a blood smear — according to the records, it was not done. On 16.10 haemoglobin was 98 g/l, exactly at the lower limit (07.10 — 121), haematocrit 0.331; reticulocytes rose to 38.7. Platelets of 840 are higher than ever before. IDEXX forms with numbers for 02.09 and 07.09.2026 have not been received.

In September 2026 the blood and proteinuria found in March were not confirmed: protein is present in the spot sample, but the protein/creatinine ratio is normal. ⚠️ A specific gravity of 1.027 is below the level that in cats usually indicates good renal concentrating ability; a single measurement does not allow a firm conclusion. The 1.035 threshold is a common guideline, not the laboratory’s reference range.
